Shaping the new New Zealand — together

Harrison Grierson has been building sustainable communities across Aotearoa New Zealand for almost 140 years. Their work is informed by years of experience, data, and an understanding of Aotearoa New Zealand unique environment. Never still, they’re always evolving their process, solutions and impact on New Zealand’s urban environments.

We helped create the latest iteration of the brand over a decade ago. A lot has changed since then. Our task was not to bring the brand up to speed to today, but what might the next decade look like for the brand?

Building on strong brand foundations it wasn’t a logo change, but an evolution in the way the brand came to life around it, transforming existing brand equity into the new and next. Priorities were to take a visual category lead; be viewed with pride and admiration, attracting clients and talent, and; to better deliver on a digital future-focussed ethos.

Creatively we focussed on a double-pronged approach. First — build off a strong base for a data driven future. Retaining enough of the existing brand to show Harrison Grierson as a trusted partner, with deep expertise and a wealth of knowledge, but evolving the static icon to an adaptive ever-changing shape to illustrate their transformative flexible approach to projects. Secondly — develop a new visual language. Using patterns inspired by their technologies (combined with a fresh and out-of-category shocking pink) to represent the many people, projects, experience, data, technology all moving together as a collective for great outcomes.

Harrison Grierson’s brand is ready to match the business ambition, to help transform Aotearoa communities into vibrant and harmonious spaces where people love to live, work and play.
