A story of unique collaboration.

Westervelt Owhaoko, a partnership between Tuscaloosa-based The Westervelt Company and local Māori trust Owhaoko B&D, needed their new Tāku Honey brand to appeal to international audiences with a story of authentic artisanal craft, contemporary Māori culture, provenance, and the most premium, pure honey provided by botany and bees!

Medical cues were as important as functional food cues, as was the reassurance that this premium product was from the purest of places. Provenance is key and those lucky enough to visit the Central Plateau above 2,000 feet will know that this brand embodies the best of New Zealand.

The mark uses a contemporary Māori koru. Botanical illustrations and the subtle scallop edging of each label evokes an apothecary’s notebook. Embossing and gold foil make this something to be cherished and shared with loved ones. The finished product feels equally at home in the most traditional or contemporary of kitchens.
